Graphite Drawings

These are my graphite drawings made with graphite and charcoal pencils on special 150gsm or 200gsm paper.

Working with graphite—in all its forms—and charcoal always brings me back to the beginning. It was fifty years ago when I first started drawing seriously. I still keep a few portraits from that time.

Graphite has a kind of humility and honesty that never fades. It allows the work to remain simple and sincere, even when the level of technical skill is very high.

I like returning to those roots from time to time.
